Nonprofits know their mission. What they lack is people.
Since January 2025, 73% of nonprofit executives reported increased demand for services and about 30% reduced staff over the same period. The math doesn’t work out, and the result is predictable: the same study found that the share of nonprofit CEOs calling burnout “very much” a concern jumped from 29% in 2025 to 46% in 2026.
Fractional staffing is one way nonprofits are closing that gap. Instead of one person trying to do everything, organizations bring on experienced professionals who fill a specific role for a set number of hours each month.
We took a look at our existing clients to get a more detailed picture of who’s using fractional staff and how they’re using it.
